ADAM’S DESKTOP PATTERN COLLECTION
This is a desktop pattern collection that have some dynamite textures that I created in Adobe Photoshop and Aldus SuperPaint. Some of the pictures are taken from royalty free EPS images.
This file requires Desktop Textures III Package and more specifically the Textures Installer 2.1 or better. The Desktop Textures package is available on most archives.
BASIC COLORS DESKTOP PATTERNS
This is a ppat Desktop Textures file that offer patterns made from the 8bit System pallette of 34 colors (which includes black and white). I have also included some variations on the basic color to show what can be done to make simple ppats. You don’t need crazy backgrounds to be different. Solid colors are classy and are just enough different to show that your mac is not just a generic out of the box machine.
BEST MAC INTERNET SITES
This is an information file stored as a Applications. It lists the best Macintosh Internet sites around. Further each of the best sites are graded and a brief description is also available. This is handy for Mac users, because there are so many sites out and about that have nothing to do with Macs! This Application cuts through the clutter and provides users with a listing of the best!
Download it if Internet is new or old to you! Its worth it!
FINDER MENU PATCH
This patch applies a series of menu commands to the Finder menus.
How often do you wish that items like “Restart” and “Empty Trash” had command keys? For those of you who do not know what command keys are, they are the letters after a menu item. When these letters are selected on the keyboard, in tandem with the command key, they provide the same reaction as when you select an item from the “File” menu for instance. If you do not currently use command keys, learn to use them because, they save time and are very cool! If you already know how to use them, then be prepared to be blown away at the genius of this patch.

For those users who still user Font/DA Mover under System 6 in color or System 7 in color, this file is perfect. It contains color versions of the icons used by the mover. I added 4 bit and 8 bit icons to the mover to spice it up a bit. I did not change anything else. The suitcase files for both fonts and DA’s will also appear in color. Thay means any suitcase that you have will no longer be boring B&W.
GRAYSCALE LASERWRITER LS PATCH
This patch converts the Grayscale LaserWriter 300 Driver into a personalized Grayscale Personal LaserWriter LS Driver. This allows Personal LaserWriter LS users to enjoy the Grayshare technology without having to use another Printer driver, namely the LaserWriter 300.
GX GRAYSCALE LASERWRITER LS PATCH
This patch converts the GX Grayscale LaserWriter 300 Driver into a personalized Grayscale Personal LaserWriter LS Driver. This allows Personal LaserWriter LS users to enjoy the Grayshare technology without having to use another Printer driver, namely the LaserWriter 300. It also affords LS users the chance to take advantage of System 7.5’s ability to use the new printing features available by creating a QuickDraw GX printer driver.
LASERWRITER 7 & 8 COPIES LIMITATION PATCH
This patch changes the LaserWriter 7 & 8 driver to not allow more than one copy be made per print command. This is especially handy for schools and government agencies that are mindful of toner-saving techniques. Any person using this driver, will quickly discover, that he or she cannot print 85 copies of a document on the LaserWriter while no one else is looking (thus saving himself from having to pay five cent for each copy on a Xerox machine). Of course, the user can just print again when the printer finishes churning out the first request, but that takes longer and is more effort than it is usually worth. This patch will make life a easier, less stressful and bliss! Ok maybe not that great, but it will help I do believe.
MICROSOFT WORD, WORKS & CLARIS WORKS EXPANDED DICTIONARY
This is a add on dictionary for use with Microsoft Word, Works, and Claris Works. This dictionary contains proper names, country names, capitals, common vernaculars, computer terms with specific interest towards Macs and abbreviations. The idea to create such dictionary started way back in the early days of my Mac development. I found a document on some computer called “Dictionary Helper”. Well I used that and the million and a half of my own added words to create these dictionaries. No longer will you have to click the add button every time Word or Works is sure a word like “Russia” is misspelled and suggests “Rushing” as a replacement.
This Dictionary is for use with Microsoft Word 4.0, 5.0, 5.1, 5.1a and Microsoft Works 2.0 and 3.0.
MEMO PAPER PATCH
This patch changes the “Executive” custom paper size to a “Memo” custom paper size. The “Memo” size is used by many organizers such as Claris Organizer. The memo page size is: 6.75 inches by 3.75 inches. Applying this patch will eliminate any printing problems when using your favorite organizer.
This patch applies the concept that was introduced in the “Quick Tips” section of the January 1995 issue of Macworld. Proper credit goes to Florin Neumann of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; the author of the tip.
MICROSOFT WORKS 2.0 TO 3.0 WORD PROCESSING CONVERTER
If you have ever had to convert one or more Microsoft Works word processing documents, you know how much of a pain this process can be. Also because of the differences between version 2.0 and 3.0, you cannot open older works documents from the desktop (double-click) and instead they must be opened from within Works 3.0. This can be a pain and it is not necessary.
Drag any number word processing documents, created with version 2.0 through 2.0e, to the Converter icon and they will convert to a MS Works 3.0 format. The documents can then be opened from the desktop.
PERSONAL LASERWRITER LS SHARING GUIDE
Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to share a Personal LaserWriter LS over a network or even between two Macs. Apple’s new Grayshare printer driver update, a software upgrade, allows the LaserWriter Select 300 and the Personal LW LS to be shared. Besides sharing capabilities the new driver also allows both printers to print 30 shades of gray, thus allowing limited good quality graphics output. A indepth look at every accomplishment by this prolific muscian, song writer and actor. This includes a directory of all songs written or otherwise sung by Phil as well as information about his many stage appearances. If its Phil it is here. This guide is released in application format for easy viewing from any Macintosh. Future versions will contain increasingly larger amounts of information.
SNAZZY FOLDERS
A whole bunch of custom folders to replace the boring plain folders that reign in the land of your hard drive. These fodler include custom folder icons for major applications such as MS Word and Pagemaker. These are high quality icons that will look impresive on any Mac. I created them for my own use in my daily work to spruce up my desktop, and I thought I would pass them along to the public.
SYSTEM 7 ALTERNATE ICONS
Too many of the miscellaneous utilities and support software for System 7 are still sporting black and white icons. This ResEdit document contains color version so that color users won’t have to stare any longer at the b&w reality of the Mac! :)
TEACHTEXT/SIMPLETEXT AUTOTYPERS
These two programs automates the metamorphosis between editable Teachtext files and read only Teachtext files. The applications work in the simplest form: drag and drop. They employ System 7’s drag and drop option which simply means that you drag the document that you want to change to the application and wammo it changes. Whenever either application finishes processing files it will give a progress report. Sorry these programs, due to their nature require System 7!
You can drop a single document on either application or even a folder containing several documents. Even if there are documents of other types present, these Autotypers will still work. They will ignore all other document formats and only alter the ones that conform to specifications mentioned herewithin.
The technical process is simple. The document’s type are changed while the creator, Teachtext, stays the same. Editable TEXT become read-only ttro and vise versa.
FONTS:
Alaskan Nights is a Sans-serif ice font. The best way to describe it is to liken to the font used on the bags of ice sold in the stores. Extremely cold ice and snow hangs precipitously from every top and crevice of every letter and symbol. Talk about the “cold type.” Ha ha!
This font was a whim that was created in just under four hours. The characters are expertly rendered and the kerning should be up to Adobe standards! Enjoy it on those very cold winter days and even those hot summer killers!
Alli would make a Zebra proud! Uniform strips following a percise -50 degree angle flow across each character. Very cool at small and large sizes.
Bagheera is lithe and solid at the same time, this display snas serif font is as cunning and sleek as a certain black Siamese I know! The family includes the following styles: Lean, Fat, Left Paw, Right Paw, and Open Claw. This font features a left facing italic.
BigBlue is a pseudo IBM logo looking font with vertical uniform stripes.
Daily Planet Black is an interpretation of a newspaper masthead font. Big, bold and in your face, Daily Planet is a striking black text font. Also included in this archive is Daily Planet-BlackItalic, a new addition to the family.
Daily Planet-Black has complete upper and lower case sets. Numbers and shift-numbers are also present. D.P. also has most punctuation characters, including correct quotes and brackets. This font looks best at point sizes 14 and above. While it will print at lower sizes, it is best larger.
Driveby is a display sans-serif font that participated in too many gun fights. Holes of various size compound to form larger holes at irregular intervals. It is a truely holey font! :)
Since this is a display font, it lacks all but the basic characters. There is only an upper-case set, but to alleviate annoyance, I have copied the upper-case to the lower-case positions. Numbers and shift number characters are present as well as some punctuation.
Gambler is an rough-hewn oldwestern font that reminds one of the “saloon” style sign hanging over every establishment .
No Parking received its name because it reminded me of those annoying no parking strips at the supermarkert. Narrow whitespace and multitudes of strips make this font quite fun!
Truman Script is a simple, brushstroke font. It is brash, litthe and has a no no nesense attitude. Uncultured and unrefined, this font is for the tough guy who wants a script font. The font is dedicated to President Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) because like the font, he was brash and had a no nonsense attitude.
Upper-case, lower-case, numbers, shift-numbers, punctiation and accent cahracters are present.
Tyler Slant is an oblique font that has opposing thick and thin outlines. Very cool!
Virtual and Virtual Explosion. Have you every wanted a very bold and in-your-face shadow font, but coud not find one bold enough? Well look no further, because Virtual is here! Blocky, big, bold and in-your-face Virtual is for you. Its cousin explosion is shown from a 12 degree horizontal and -12 vertical angle.
Wacky Shadow is a crazy balloon display font that has a definite 5 o’clock shadow. It was inspired by the public domain bitmap font of yesteryear,Gilbert Shelton . True Type Format.
Winwood is a rendition of the cracked stone font used for Steve Winwood’s ‘86 concert tour poster. While neither as detailed nor condensed as the original, this version is true to the spirit. Very cool!

COLOR TREK ICON ANTHOLOGY
Presented for your enjoyment, here is a collection of more than 200 icons depicting people, places and things from the Star Trek saga. From Andorians to the Enterprise-D, from Deep Space Nine to Tribbles, these color icon-folders are the product of two and a half years' work. Almost all are my own creations; a few I found here and there already made - to their creators, this user gives many thanks.
Keep your eyes peeled for more Trek icons in a few more months, as well as icons from the following: Blade Runner, Star Wars, Max Headroom and many others. A descripitve list of all the icons, both those in this package and those to come will also be included, for those of you wanting to know where some of my ideas come from.
